Various School Aged Child Care Positions available

Group Leader, Unit Leader and Specialists

 

The Malden YMCA SACC Program is seeking individuals that can work with School Age children in a variety of activities such as homework/tutoring, sports, cooking, and crafts. All staff help develop the program curriculum through activity themes, traditional as well as specialty and work to help children achieve their potential.

            The program is separated by age an divided into 4 Units. Each Unit has a Unit Leader, Groups Leaders and Assistant Group Leaders. Specialists supplement each unit. Desired specialties are for music, art, karate or dance.

 

Qualifications:

v      Available afternoons*, are friendly, have patience and can work well as a team member.

v      Develop and run age appropriate activities.

v      All positions must meet the state EEC qualifications including but not limited to Criminal Record Check, verification of experience and references.

v      Have good communication skills.

v      Schedules are flexible. The program operates afternoons 1:30pm-6pm and school vacation weeks and summers    

       8am-6pm.

 

Compensation:

Assistant Group Leaders - $8-$9 per hour depending on experience

Group leaders - $9-$12 per hour depending on experience.

Unit Leaders - $10-$14 per hour depending on experience.

Specialists – starting at $12 and up, depends on specialty and prior experience

LIFEGUARDS

The Malden YMCA has immediate openings for certified lifeguards.  Come join our large staff if you care about helping to provide great service for a large membership base.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety of swimmers by preventing and responding to emergencies
  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
  • Provide emergency care and treatment in other parts of the building when required
  • Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Enforce pool and YMCA rules
  • Test pool chlorine and pH
  • Follow directions from Aquatics Director, Assistant Aquatics Director, and Head Lifeguards
  • Previous experience teaching swim lessons a plus

    Expected schedule:

    Applicant must be able to work one of the following options:

    • At least three opening shifts (5:15a-8:30a), Monday-Friday
    • At least two morning shifts (7:15a-12:30p), Tuesday-Thursday
    • Friday (5:45-9:30p) and/or Saturday (2-8p) closing shift

    Our work schedules are flexible, and the amount of hours depends on your availability and teaching experience.  We have many more open shifts other than those listed above.

     

     Requirements:

    • American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent certification in Lifeguarding and First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/Lifeguard
    • 16 years old or older
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
    • Ability to conduct oneself professionally and responsibly in all facets of the job
    • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions promptly and to the best of one’s ability

     Compensation:

    • $8.50-$10.50/hr based on experience and teaching ability
    • 20% all Malden YMCA programs

    Welcome Center Service Member

     This energetic outgoing applicant will be responsible for all aspects of Welcome Center Member Services including:  membership sales and registration, program registration, inbound phone calls, responding to member questions and concerns. 

    The Welcome Center Service Member must be:
      A team player with an outgoing, friendly personality and strong basic computer skills
      Adept to multi-tasking and remaining focused and friendly during high volume periods
      Gifted to communicate clearly with members, guests and staff and respond
        appropriately during an emergency
      A high school graduate or equivalent
      Able to work 3 or more shifts per week
    This position is non-exempt part time.  Pay rate is $8.50 - $9.00 per hour based on experience.
