2nd Annual Lap-a-Thon

The event will be held on Wednesday December 2, 2015. The Lap pool will be closed down from 5:30 pm to 7:30pm so that all Crocs swimmers may participate in this event!
Junior swimmers will participate from 5:30-6:30p
Senior swimmers will participate from 5:30-7:30p (seniors will help count the juniors' laps and also work the snack bar).
The Y requests that each swimmer raise a minimum of $35, but we know that many swimmers will exceed that amount!  Please see the enclosed letter from our Aquatics Director RoseMarie and the enclosed pledge form.
We will also need food donations for the snack bar to help make this event successful.

First Dual Meet of the Season

We are currently taking registration for our first dual meet of the season on Saturday November 21st, at the West Suburban YMCA (276 Church St. Newton MA.)
The report time for this meet is 1:15pm.

For those who are new to the team, all swimmers are required to RSVP via our website.  Click on Meet Schedule in the right hand column. The RSVP is due by 5pm on Tuesday November 17th.  As you will see, our swim meets appear to be a bit chaotic, but it is an organized chaos!  However, it can only be organized if you communicate with us beforehand.

Please note: if you do not RSVP for the meet, your child will not be entered in it.  Meaning if you come to the meet, we will have to scramble to get your child into races that have open spots, which may or may not be good events/races for them to swim.  There is an option on the form to let us know if your child will need to arrive late or leave early.  If your child has an extenuating circumstance in which they must arrive late or leave early, please indicate this and the time in the comment section of the form.  Please note that if your swimmer continuously arrives late or leaves early, they will not get a chance to swim in relays and may only get to swim a select few events.  All swimmers are expected to stay until the end of the meet.

What to expect at the meet:
These meets generally run for about 4 hours.  Please have your child pack a healthy snack and something they don't mind getting wet (a book, magazine, playing cards) to help occupy their time.  Please make sure to pack your child warm clothes to put on while they are waiting to swim (sweat shirt, sweat pants) and also pack 2 towels (1 to sit on and 1 to dry off with).  Parents can expect to be very hot at these meets.  We suggest you dress in layers.  Newton has limited seating and we suggest that you bring a bag chair to sit in.  We will need timers to help out at this meet.

Last note for new families: ALL swimmers should come to the meet.  Many times our new families think their child is not ready for swim meets, but any child that can swim the length of the pool is ready for our meets. They are low pressure affairs, especially for beginners.  Team apparel might not be ready in time for this meet, if that is the case your swimmer may wear their practice suit and cap.

If your swimmer will need to take the YMCA bus to or from the meet, please fill out the separate Bus RSVP that will also appear on the website.  Swimmer's may choose to take the bus either to the meet, from the meet or a round trip.  It is IMPERATIVE that if your child's bus status changes (i.e. you want to drive them home from the meet, but they are scheduled to take the bus) that you let a coach know before you leave Newton.  The bus will depart the Malden YMCA at 12:00pm.

If your child becomes ill on the day of the meet, please make sure to call Rosalie at 781-727-0676 before 10am.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
