My first experience with the Y was as a camp counselor. At the Y, I am a youth & family director. But I know my job is so much more; I help encourage play, develop belonging, and inspire creativity. Everyday, I work with our families to help them grow together through play. While at the Y, I get excited when children arrive for the first day of camp and I can’t wait to get started. To me the Y is a home away from home. The one thing I love the most about the Y is how many children and families get excited for our classes or family activities.

My first experience with the Y was physical fitness. At the Y, I am a greeter. But, I know my job is so much more; I help encourage a relaxing attitude and inspire others to work out. Every day, I work with members & staff to help them enjoy their physical activity. I care most about the work we do for mothers with children. To me the Y is an excellent place for all people to meet. The one thing I love most about the Y is staff.

My first experience with the Y was a great beginning for me. At the Y, I am a patient at Bay State Physical Therapy. But I know it means so much more; I help encourage people, develop knowledge and inspire friends. The one thing I love most about the Y are the many available options for me to get healthy. Before coming to the Y, I couldn’t even stand up straight let alone do much walking. The weight loss has been so wonderful. I look forward to meeting my goal of good health.

My first experience with the Y was when I trained as a lifeguard in high school. At the Y, I am a swim instructor for my kids. I work with my kids as often as I can to help them gain confidence in the water. While I am at the Y I get excited when I see them making progress. Recently my son swam three pool lengths on his own and I could see such pride on his face. To me the Y is a family friendly place. The one thing I love most about the Y is that the Y has been a part of my life since I was a baby and its exciting to see my kids love the Y too.

Sometime in the fourteen years that Andre (aka "Slim") has been a YMCA member, he realized his main passion in life was helping children. Today, he’s served as a YMCA camp counselor for seven years, works as a lifeguard, volunteers for the Y For All Annual Giving Campaign (to which he donates $26 from his weekly paycheck), and even helps plan birthday parties for the Y’s younger members.

My first experience with the Y was at the after school program. At the Y, I am a student. But I know it means so much more; I help encourage other students, develop strength and inspire knowledge. While I am at the Y I get excited when I get to swim. To me the Y is a place to grow and achieve. The one thing I love most about the Y is the smell of chlorine in the air. Aaahh… the smell of opportunity!

My first experience with the Y was with the Morning Playgroup. At the Y I work with the playgroup and camp. But, I know my job is so much more; I help encourage socialization, develop lasting friendships and inspire joy. Every day, I work with children to help them become happy, well rounded and exhausted enough for a nap. While at the Y, I get excited when I can get a room full of kids to dance. And I care most about the work we do for families. To me the Y is a family. The one thing I love the most about the Y is the sense of community.
